Did you know that the famous world known carnival in Rio originated in Lisbon? After the Portuguese took over Brazil, they brought this amazing festival there, and the rest is history. The event takes place every February with fun filled attractions such as dancing, costumes, lots of booze, and so much more.
At the Carnival you will have parades with floats and many street parties.
The funny part is that this tradition started in Italy the day before Lent. The origin of the name carnival is “Carnevale” which means ‘put away the meat’. This is because that people do not eat meat during the Lent.
This race is considered one of the most beautiful races in the world with great views, architecture, history, and wonderful colors in the background. Usually takes place in October with Lisbon’s fantastic autumn weather. During the race you will observe the wonderful history of Lisbon on the one hand, and on the other hand glaze at the waterfront which Vasco de Gama and Magellan set off from on their voyages. So, lace up and start training.
Every year since 1930 in the wonderful Lisbon autumn a fantastic book fair takes place. There is so much to see and buy here. There is first edition, and vintage books along with new releases to be found. The atmosphere is magnetizing at the fair, and the new releases are sold with an incredible discount.
This is one of the oldest annual events in the city, and it lasted so long for good reasons. Normally it is located in the beautiful Parque Eduardo VII.

At the festival many young people get together to celebrate the summer with incredible vibes and fun. It can get quite hot in Lisbon at this time (literally and figuratively), and since the festival takes place next to the water, you have the chance of cooling off.
Lisbon is the host of a huge annual rock festival, one of the most popular ones in Europe- Nos Alive. At this festival you can enjoy the live music from the best Rock bands in the world. Names like Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Radiohead, Green Day, Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Muse and many many others have already performed at this festival. The festival normally takes place in June.

The organization running the show is a non-profit organization whose sole mission is to promote and develop the Fashion Industry in Portugal, so if you are a fashion enthusiast, this is the place for you!
The festival takes place every year in mid-June. Portugal’s patron saint, Santo Antonio, the miracle doer of Lisbon is celebrated. There great parades and amazing evening street parties.
