Baixa and Rossio

If it is landmarks you want to see, Baixa and Rossio is the place to be. Here you can find great shopping and food, but most importantly you can find the ruins of the city from before 1755’s earthquake. One place which is highly recommended is Livraria Bertrand- the oldest bookstore in the world still trading.

Bairro Alto

This is where you can find the whole city on a Saturday night. The neighborhoods bars will often host the night life of the city and has a great atmosphere both at night and at day. You can also find landmarks on site, or just sit at a local caffe enjoying the busy streets.

Alfama

If you’re are looking for a great traditional meal, make sure you go to Alfama. This a great place to get lost in, and you will get lost here since the streets are built like a maze. This maze leads to incredible places. This neighborhood is the oldest one in Lisbon, and home of the ‘Fado’ music.

Príncipe Real

As one of the most fashionable areas in the city, people want to live in Príncipe Real. Here you will find great restaurants, bars, and art galleries. It is walking distance from the city center, and therefore you can find anything you need in this area. Unfortunately, the neighborhood is quite expensive, but great things come with a cost.

Avenidas Novas and Alvalade

The new city has much too offer as well, home to the middle-class and upper-class workers and hosting several universities. Many students live in this are giving it a very young atmosphere. If you are looking for an active social life, this is the place to visit.

Parque das Nações

This neighborhood has a scenic waterfront, contemporary architecture, and great restaurants and bars. It is a little far from the city center, but the transportation is really good. The neighborhood has a warm family vibe, and is very comfortable to be in.

Belém

Belem is where you will find many of the cities most iconic tourist spots. It is a charming location with wonderful views, parks, and open spaces. The most popular attraction here is the Torre de Belém, one of the great remains from the 16th century.
